Makino Unveiled the AML900 Machine to Revolutionize Metal Additive Manufacturing at Formnext 2024

  • Makino Asia today announced the launch of AML900 machine to enhance innovation and efficiency in metal additive manufacturing.
  • The AML900, an upgrade from the AML500, offers advanced features for largescale production, including enhanced process monitoring and automated inprocess calibration.

Frankfurt, 19 Nov 2024 – Makino, a global leader in machine tool solutions, proudly announced the launch of its new AM Service Bureau and the AML900 machine, both designed to drive innovation and efficiency in metal additive manufacturing, at Formnext 2024, Germany.

Many companies have realized the benefits of additive manufacturing but lack the confidence or expertise to operate an AM production line, slowing the adoption of this transformative technology. Recognizing this gap in the metal AM industry between proof of concept and full-scale production, Makino aims to bridge this divide.

At the heart of this initiative is the new AML900, a powerful upgrade from its predecessor, AML500. Engineered to meet the demand of large-scale production, the AML900 features enhanced process monitoring systems and automated in-process calibration, delivering unparalleled stability and scalability. The AML900's inert chamber and innovative antechamber design further facilitate the efficient processing of reactive materials, boosting operational productivity by minimizing purging downtime.

“We have continued to make great progress in our strategic collaboration with Makino Asia over the past year. Both parties have greatly benefited from close cooperation, advancing machine options and developments to expand the application fields for the LMD process,” said Christoph Hauck, toolcraft AG’s Executive Board Member. “We have successfully implemented various applications on the AML500 and are looking forward to further evaluating parameter monitoring to streamline process development in the future.”

With these advancements, Makino continues to lead the way in metal additive manufacturing, providing the tools and support necessary for manufacturers to innovate and grow.
